CLIMATE CHANGE AND OTHER SMALL TALK:

EPISODE NINE: IN THE DUMPS BY SHAUNTAY GRANT

SUNNY DRAKE: You’re listening to Climate Change & Other Small Talk. A worldwide theatrical journey for your ears - minus the carbon footprint and lost luggage. 9 creative teams from around the world share entertaining audio dramas to explore our climate mess. And what could get us out.

After all these episodes, I’m still Sunny Drake and I’m delighted you’re still on this journey with us. We’re at our final episode –I can’t believe we made it right around the globe, to land in Kjipuktuk, otherwise known as Halifax, on Canada’s east coast. Our finale is made by Zuppa and written by Shauntay Grant. Shauntay is an award-winning playwright, poet, and children’s author. I wanted to work with her because she’s one of those rare creators who manages to be accessible, engaging and deeply informed by research - not an easy feat.

For this final leg of our trip, I’m wondering if you’ve ever taken off on a journey and not known quite how to get there? Or even exactly where you were going? We’ve seen through our previous episodes that we need such a huge scale of action all across the world to address climate change. And sometimes we just need to get moving, even though we’re not 100% clear on the details. Ready to make it up and change course as we go.

In that spirit, let’s see what happens when a father drags his eleven-year-old son on a mysterious road trip in Nova Scotia.

Get ready for “In the Dumps” by Shauntay Grant.
